The Glories of Our Blood and State
By James Shirley

The glories of our blood and state
Are shadows, not substantial things;
There is no armor against fate;
Death lays his icy hand on kings.
Scepter and crown
Must tumble down
And in the dust be equal made
With the poor crooked scythe and spade.

Some men with swords may reap the field
And plant fresh laurels where they kill,
But their strong nerves at last must yield;
They tame but one another still.
Early or late
They stoop to fate
And must give up their murmuring breath,
When they, pale captives, creep to death.

The garlands wither on your brow,
Then boast no more your mighty deeds;
Upon death's purple alter now
See where the victor-victim bleeds.
Your heads must come
To the cold tomb;
Only the actions of the just
Smell sweet and blossom in their dust.

Diabusy

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while! I've been super busy lately... Thursday I went over to my lovely friend, Victoria's, house. We watched the movie "All About Steve." I really recommend that movie, it's super funny. The story line is definitely unique, which is always refreshing, and the moral at the end of the movie was great.
But more importantly, I've been working the past couple days! My job is seasonal, since it's with my parents' best friends' catering business. So I only work a few weekends in the summer, but I get at least $100 every weekend, usually closer to $200 (and occasionaly $300!). So I used about $97 of my earnings to buy some new clothes at forever21.com(: I've decided there's alot of clothes I need to give to charity, since I never wear them. And I'm going to fill those holes with some new ones. It's always nice getting new clothes!
So that's the update of why I haven't been as busy on my blog, but I promise I haven't forgotten about my blogging world.
Today my cousin that lives in California is stopping by to visit(: He's awesome, and I've really missed him since he left. But hopefully my stomach feels better by the time he gets here! I made the mistake of getting Burger King for lunch... since I got diabetes, I obviously eat a lot healthier. So fast food always upsets my stomach when I get it. I've actually heard that fast food is so bad for you, your body doesn't get any nutrients out of it because it can barely recognize it as food. If it didn't taste so good and wasn't so convenient I would never even touch it again!

Diafive Question Friday!

I saw this on a couple people's blogs and thought it looked fun(: So here's my Five Question Friday answers!
1. Do you collect anything?
Sort of. I collect encouragement notes people give me and I post them on the corkboard in my room...That way, if I ever need a pick me up, I can just read those(:

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.
Ummmm Taylor Lautner, Taylor Lautner, and Taylor Lautner. If he showed up at my house and said, "hey, run away with me" I'd leave without even grabbing my diabetes supplies!

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?
I have four. Two of them are on my arm, and they're from being hit by bikes (two separate times). Another one is on my left leg and it's also from being hit by a bike (another time). And the last one is on my knee and it's from falling off the playground in third grade (I know, you expected it to be from getting hit by a bike).

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?
Anything with peanut butter! It's a habit I picked up when I became diabetic. I eat peanut butter with rice krispie treats, icecream, animal crackers, granola bars...you name it, I've probably had it with peanut butter.

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?
I so wish I have. The closest I've ever come to a tornado is when I was visiting family in Connecticut and we got a tornado warning...but it never even came near us, we just got some rain.
